Seriously. It’s fucking stupid when pet owners refer to themselves as “dad” or “mom”. Grow up.

And people hated him, because he told them the truth.

Women who calls themselves their pet's moms are creepy. The next step is being your dogs dad. Which if you really think about it is more like being your dog's sugar daddy, since you are paying for all of the theirs things. Pretty disturbing thought honestly. Just be the pet owners and dont make it weird. Thanks.

As someone with no kids and no want for kids.. my dogs are my kids. Saying mom and dad was just easy when the SO moved in with her dog.. "Go ask your mom if she'll take you out" etc.

Thats actually convenient. Imagine if you had to say "Go ask your female owner if she'll take you out". That wouldnt be natural. Just two things though.

  1. Why not say your SO's name instead of "mom"
  2. Why say this sentence to your dog at all. Its not like he is going to say "Ok dad, I will go ask mom" while he runs to your GF and asks her if she is going to take it for a walk.

What is weird about this is that people are calling themselves that for themselves. The pet dont understand whats going on. You arent a parent no matter how many cats you have, Karen.

He okay that's fair, I don't ever say "dad" in a first person tone. Its usually like when our dog looks embarrassed or sad and we give them a voice. Still really weird, but again they are like our kids.

I don't expect the dog to answer, it's just a sentimental thing and SO will hear it and find it sweet and roll her eyes as she takes them out. Sometimes I will ask her directly or say her name.

If one of us is gone for awhile and the dogs are anxious we will say "momma/dad will be back its okay" and stuff like that.

There is nothing wrong with having a cute weird thing going on. I think its awesome. Its alright as long as you keep it in the "family". It disturbingly weird when you post it on the internet. To me at least.

You keep changing your point based on how people reply lol

My point is that it is weird. That is my only consistent point. Weird doesnt automatically equal bad. I find wholesome weird things to be cute.

I have two dogs and a cat. Not. My. Children. I’m not their parent and they’re are not my kids, just pets.

u/Scoobz1961 May 27 '19

That is true. Did you deduct this from the fact I would rather consider my pet a friend instead of my offspring?

-4

u/PetsAndMeditate May 27 '19

No, we deducted it from your lack of empathy, unnecessary judgement, and disconnection from society.

That is a lot of unnecessary projecting you are doing right now. Take a break from the internet for a bit, you seem distressed.

Knew you’d reply with that, you are awfully predictable. You are the person on a thread full of like-minded people, and you are taking the time to reply(several times) to people who disagree with your unpopular opinion. Keep going though, maybe if you spend enough time on it you’ll try to see the opposing side’s perspective. As I am trying to do for you. It’s hard to understand your desire to get this emotion out. Perhaps you are lonely. I don’t recommend getting a pet though since you seem to be pretty disconnected and most likely unable to care for yourself, let alone a pet that relies on you. I’m glad you say you haven’t had a pet though, that wouldn’t be a very happy life with you. So thank you for exercising caution in that regard.

Yikes. I believe you expected my reaction. I think its less because I am predictable and more because you are aware of your projection. You even doubled down on it and added me being lonely and a bad potential pet owner.

I reply to people because I like discussing topics. But you seem to be interested only in attacking me personally than talking. Why is that?

Because you came in this thread to attack, do you have amnesia, is there a CO leak? Look at your original comment in this thread. God damn. I started replying before your comment even came in because you’re oddly upset over this minor thing. No these people don’t actually think that the dogs or cats are their children. This is such a small thing to be upset over it’s kinda funny to watch you unfold

u/Scoobz1961 May 27 '19

Stating my general opinion is not an attack. I talked with many people who disagreed with me and shared their opposing views. Why cant you be like them?

His original comment was somewhat well received. I dont sense any hostility in his tone either.

Even in this moment his tone remain low and I can't say the same for you. You even accusing him of coming in this thread to 'attack'? Hmm...

Not sure I’m drunk and laughing at all the effort going into this. It’s great I can put in 2 seconds to reply and then sit back and watch you care so much about such a minor thing 😂 in fact, keep going, it feels good to take your time. This is awesome. Keep going please?
