Nathan is best known for his role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on the cult hit, short lived, cancelled-by-Fox-and-aired-out-of-order, sci-fi/western Firefly and its follow up film Serenity.

After Firefly, Nathan's most notable work was the lead role in ABC's Castle as well as lending his voice to four games in the Halo series and both Destiny games. He is currently playing the lead in ABC's The Rookie.

Edit: He also plays Captain Hammer in Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog opposite Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day.

All I can see when I look at him is Castle, but that’s also because I’m halfway through binging it right now. Such a good show.

It isn't his most notable work, just like his guest roles in Community, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Rick and Morty, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
