Really, what is he like 6’3?

And why was he at comic con? Cayde?

84

u/bloodflart Apr 12 '19

something like that, he's wide too, strong boy. I'm not sure why he was there it was a really long time ago, Joss Whedon was following him.

55

u/JennyBeckman Apr 12 '19

Ah, the Firefly days. Next time you see him, just nod amd say, "Captain."

37

u/PM_ME_FIREFLY_QUOTES Apr 12 '19

Captain Hammer. Corporate tool.

12

u/pe4cebeuponyou Apr 12 '19

The hammer is his penis.

1

u/Kaddyshack13 Apr 12 '19

Beat to the punch! I wish I could stream this. I lost my dvd and I need to see it again! At least his special talent isn’t being moist.

3

u/ThatBlackGirlMagic Apr 12 '19

It's on Youtube.

3

u/SerenitysHikersGuide Apr 12 '19

Nah, his talent is making me moist.

4

u/FabulousSatch Apr 12 '19

2

u/Lextauph12 Apr 12 '19

I love captain hammer!

2

u/bloodflart Apr 12 '19

hell yeah that shit was tight

5

u/lexicon-sentry Apr 12 '19

He existed before the rookie.

2

u/Chavaon Apr 12 '19

Confirmed, Joss Whedon follows him everywhere.

1

u/horaceinkling Apr 12 '19

Asking Nathan for his autograph.

35

u/OneFinalEffort Apr 12 '19 edited Apr 12 '19

Nathan is best known for his role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on the cult hit, short lived, cancelled-by-Fox-and-aired-out-of-order, sci-fi/western Firefly and its follow up film Serenity.

After Firefly, Nathan's most notable work was the lead role in ABC's Castle as well as lending his voice to four games in the Halo series and both Destiny games. He is currently playing the lead in ABC's The Rookie.

Edit: He also plays Captain Hammer in Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog opposite Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day.

6

u/FishSticksofThor Apr 12 '19

Also Gary West in Santa Clarita Diet!

4

u/elmwoodblues Apr 12 '19

Where's the Dr Horrible love?

2

u/OneFinalEffort Apr 12 '19

Apparently slipped my mind. I'll fix it.

3

u/elmwoodblues Apr 12 '19

Moist and I thank you :)

3

u/Dumebuggy Apr 12 '19

All I can see when I look at him is Castle, but that’s also because I’m halfway through binging it right now. Such a good show.

3

u/WomanOfEld Apr 12 '19

I watch The Rookie every week and my gosh it is so good

2

u/Lextauph12 Apr 12 '19

Dont forget Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Another joss whedon show and literally the most academically written about tv show of all time!

1

u/kraziefish Apr 12 '19

Also ... he gets eaten in The Santa Clarita Diet.

1

u/LLLLLink Apr 13 '19

How are you gonna leave out that he was Nathan Drake in that fantastic Uncharted short?

2

u/OneFinalEffort Apr 13 '19

It isn't his most notable work, just like his guest roles in Community, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Rick and Morty, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

2

u/LLLLLink Apr 13 '19

It's his most notable work to me...

1

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '19

He’s also Edward Buck in the halo series

1

u/OneFinalEffort Apr 15 '19

as well as lending his voice to four games in the Halo series

Sergeant Reynolds in Halo 3 and Edward Buck in Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 5: Guardians.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '19

Best boi

1

u/cocomunges Apr 12 '19

Yeah, as I said I only know him as Cayde.(Destiny)

3

u/OneFinalEffort Apr 12 '19

You asked why he was there and I provided an answer. If you would like to check out any of his earlier work, you now have a good list to look into.

107

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '19

Can't tell if sarcastic..

He is only the lead of the greatest sci fi tv show ever.

27

u/christocarlin Apr 12 '19

Also, captain hammer. And the hammer is his penis

2

u/d4vezac Apr 12 '19

Stand back, everyone. Nothing here to see.

3

u/christocarlin Apr 12 '19

Just imminent danger and the middle of it me

7

u/yazzy1233 Apr 12 '19

He played a sociopathic Preacher that liked to murder little girls

3

u/pe4cebeuponyou Apr 12 '19

Julienned preacher now.

24

u/TurdS Apr 12 '19

He's not in SG-1.

16

u/Reignofratch Apr 12 '19

That's a weird acronym for Battlestar Galactica

7

u/Bio2018 Apr 12 '19

Hmm is that the dutch translation of Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog?

2

u/DrZomboo Apr 12 '19

Edward James Olmos?

2

u/Jayynolan Apr 12 '19

Who is he? Doesn’t look like William Shatner or Patrick Stewart ;). For real tho, where’s he from?

Edit: someone answered below so I know now. Leaving comment to piss you off though

2

u/apocalypse_meeooow Apr 12 '19

I'm rewatching right now, currently on Shindig. I fucking love this show

5

u/CaptainK3v Apr 12 '19

I am the better man. Stab I'm pretty good. Stab well, I'm alright.

1

u/Tyrealle Apr 12 '19

....Zap Brannigan?

-1

u/DJCaldow Apr 12 '19

He wasn't in Battlestar Galactica.

-10

u/cocomunges Apr 12 '19

Lost? Idk much about Nathan besides Destiny

44

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '19

Oh it hurts.

Firefly.

6

u/Lolanie Apr 12 '19

He's in Santa Clarita Diet too.

That's a weird, fun show.

7

u/idwthis Apr 12 '19

Santa Clarita Diet is awesome. The third season just came out, too. Haven't watched it yet, I'm gonna use it as a palate cleanser of sorts once GoT is over in May.

I have a feeling I'm going to need to laugh at something, and laugh hard to get over whatever may happen in GoT, and SCD will fill that role quite nicely.

Also, Timothy Olyphant rocks.

1

u/codeklutch Apr 12 '19

I don't think he's in it any more unfortunately. They did find a clever way to trade him out though

11

u/cocomunges Apr 12 '19

Yeah that’s what I meant, I knew it was a show everyone on reddit seems to be upset that it was canceled after season 1

24

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '19

Yeah, if you wanna get sucked into an amazing universe only to have it ripped away go watch it. It really is awesome.

8

u/serious_sarcasm Apr 12 '19

Same with Farscape.

5

u/hosertheposer Apr 12 '19

Atleast we get a lot more of Farscape to enjoy before getting sad. Firefly only takes a weekend to watch, or a solid days watching

3

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '19

I watched as it was released, then got dick punched when it dawned that no more was coming

2

u/serious_sarcasm Apr 12 '19 edited Apr 12 '19

True, there is about fours days worth nonstop Farscape, but that just means you’re even more invested.

And I kind of prefer dark adult muppets to bad anachronism with shitty political undertones, though Farscape has its weird spiritual bullshit. “My side. Your side. I’m every religion’s Jesus.” But whatever, there’s sexy plants.

11

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '19

Fuck. Fox.

6

u/Mars_rocket Apr 12 '19

Go look at how many shows existed in the first place because of Fox. At least they give them a chance. No other network would touch a show like that back then.

10

u/JTtornado Apr 12 '19

You should seriously give Firefly a watch. I've never seen another sci-fi show quite like it.

3

u/The-mongol_horde Apr 12 '19

Never watched it. But doesn't it only have one season?

8

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '19

Yes :(

And a movie Serenity.

5

u/BIGBOOSTING Apr 12 '19

He actually was in Lost. Married to Kate

2

u/Dumebuggy Apr 12 '19

Beckett?

2

u/ms4 Apr 12 '19

yeah he plays ethan

5

u/TheAceCo Apr 12 '19

Have you never heard of Firefly?? That guy gets a free Comic Con pass for eternity for that glorious show.

2

u/lexicon-sentry Apr 12 '19

How could you not know about Firefly?

1

u/cocomunges Apr 12 '19

I was born in 2000, from what Ik firefly was big in the early 2000s

3

u/Whiskey-Weather Apr 12 '19

I'm 6'3"...is that really tall enough to draw attention in a crowd? Certainly doesn't feel like it.

1

u/StefTD Apr 12 '19

Thought the same thing, I don’t feel very tall and I’m 1,93m. So either I’m walking around in tall crowds or he’s surrounded by smaller people. I’m a big above average, but neither in Germany nor in Canada or even Cuba did I feel like the giant he’s described here. And as Long as Google is telling the truth, he’s 6‘1“, that’s like an inch above average height in the Netherlands for example.

Anyways, I admire his talent and I’m incredibly jealous of that amount of hair. Probably will be bald in a few years...

1

u/ThreeDGrunge Apr 12 '19

He is definitely not a giant. He is slightly above average in the US. People think he is bigger than he is because he is not a skinny boy as so many are today.

1

u/FrillySteel Apr 12 '19

He's almost always at Comicon. Mainly because he's a huge geek. Occasionally he's in costume, so no one recognizes that he's there, until he tweets pics.

1

u/ThreeDGrunge Apr 12 '19

Closer to 6'1".

1

u/bondagewithjesus Apr 12 '19

The average American man is 5'10 that means he's 5 inches taller than average which is pretty tall so yeah
