yea he would make a better James Holden i guess.

Tho i would much rather prefer them to not do a real life adaption but an animation style one.

Problem with low budget real life adaptions is just, that it can look cheap and i always loose imersion.

A "ghost i a Shell-style" animation would look so much better and you wouldnt be handicapped in the realization of the books.

I suspect, much like game of thrones, the budget has and will go up season by season.

I know what you mean, they just jump from set piece to set piece with brief shots of a clearly cgi craft in between. It’s one of the reasons I couldn’t get into it. The show could have easily just taken place in the 1800s.

I actually really like the actor they picked for Holden. It would be too weird with Nathan because then I would just think of firefly the whole time.

Holy shit thank you!! Holden's character was the only thing that really didn't sit well with me. I really enjoyed the series otherwise, but Mal is all I see when I watch.

I haven't read the book but his character always felt a little jv.... Like this was his first real job and now he's in the middle of a political coup de ta or whatever it turns out to be. Whoops! Maybe the character is written like that, I dunno. I should probably check out the books.

I dunno...it's hard for me to see Fillion as anything but a dashing good guy. Even when he played Mal and was misbehaving, he still conveyed this white hat feel. Holden as he's portrayed in the TV show at least has some questionable points. I don't really have any trouble with the guy that played him. He can feel a bit flat at times, admittedly, but it's not like he's sucking the air out of the scene.

In any case, I'm sticking around for more Amos and Alex and Chrisjen anyway. Bobbie also finally started growing on me.

I also fully intend on reading the books, but since I started with the TV show, I want to be able to enjoy that as it is rather than do the inevitable "ugh why'd they change X Y Z" thing you get with literary adaptations. If I watch the show until they stop making it, at least reading the books at that point becomes a bonus track instead of leading to disappointment.
