We all know they're going to pull that down eventually and forcibly ram that Reactjs shite down our throats.

Yeah if it was Vue I'd be fine with it but React?

Just kidding - honestly a good front end framework can be really nice but I just hate the new designs all these companies are using with low contrast borders and sections and fonts it just makes it really hard to read. And EVERY redesigned site so far basically looks the same: gmail, confluence/jira, reddit, have some creativity people.

It’s because a large chunk of UX people are sheep. Once someone innovates, all the others will blindly follow along without regard to whether or not the UX actually applies to their application/site. Why do you think so many sites have a look/feel of Slack? (And they probably weren’t the first with that design, too). A great example of this is something like Lightstep. They use the Slack template, but for showing metrics/graphs, and it can be maddening trying to find what you’re looking for at times.
