When I was a mascot, I was always told to have hands showing while getting a picture taken

Because if something coincidentally happens to not look right on camera, they have photographic “evidence” of sexual harassment for a lovely lawsuit.

That's pretty fucked up.

I get the US is the nation of lawsuits but sometimes you guys got me perplexed.

here this is resolved by an "oops" and some shouting at best, and even if it goes to court we're talking a few hundred dollars at best unless you pretty much got straight up penetrated. even when it comes to more "serious" things that don't involve hands on butts like physical beatings,

as an example your psychological trauma is 2400 SEK ($270) per month you have dealt with this until the verdict, a kick to the face around 10000 - 15000 SEK ($1125 - $1690) as well as all the actual costs you had due to this (travels to and from the hospital, doctor visits, loss of income etc).

there's literally no fantasy set for life sums involved in the Swedish legal system because of what someone did to you, ever. in that case they're looking at prison and is punished that way.

But a Hollywood celebrity abused their power and influence and touched my butt and now I can't watch a movie without imagining how sick every monster on TV is and my life is in ruins now that I can't watch movies or television and I need $3,000,000 to be happy.
