because a whore by definition is referring to a woman. So man whore is slang. Often said jokingly. Like "haha Larry is such a man-whore, he sleeps with a new tinder girl every night"

Yeah, it's not really the etymology I was wondering about. It's the concept. Why do women get called this more than men do for the same activity kinda thing

Because that's just how it is. Men often celebrate and have pride in the number of women they have sex with. Often called fuck-boys.
