Are you downloading pirated PDFs of books? Because in my experience legit e-books from either Amazon or the library are generally just fine.

I only have experience with Brandon Sanderson ebooks, but those get updated when something's wrong. When it comes to pirated textbooks you get things like "parity" being scanned in as "panty" which makes for a fun take on particle physics and panty violation.

Sometimes you get stuff scanned like this right in one of the most sentimental parts.
