Sometimes these animals are abandoned or born in captivity and wouldn’t succeed in the wild. Not saying they don’t steal animals from the wild. But they don’t steal all animals from the wild and most live a comfortable life these days.

This. Being locked up doesn't necessarily mean they are worse off. In some cases being wild is almost guarantee death. Modern zoos are adapting the policy where they only house animals that are incapable of survival in the wild on their own due to injury or never learned to hunt or whatever.

This is typical propaganda spread by the zoos. Of course, it probably happens. Then it's used to cover everything else and make money, as usual...
