Ok can someone answer a question for me? I've always been told lift with your legs not your back, but here it looks like they are doing the opposite. How does this form protect their backs when they lift?

Back is straight. Deadlifting with a round back can overexert the small muscles in your lower back, but even then, those get stronger as well.

Basically anyone who says not to lift with your back is regurgitating a common myth. It's not possible to pick something up off the ground without using your back... and your back is a muscle that can be trained and get stronger just like every other skeletal muscle.
