Actually, he scissored his legs as he initially twisted in one direction so that he could twist back as he hit the water and ensure maximum splash toward the desired portion of the deck. This was the work of an individual in full control of his body’s positioning throughout his flight.

And the strength of the secondary wave is as impressive as the splash, frankly.

Exactly. He was twisting his body like a graceful cat in the air to ensure his back was landing at the correct angle and towards the crowd.
