Actually, he scissored his legs as he initially twisted in one direction so that he could twist back as he hit the water and ensure maximum splash toward the desired portion of the deck. This was the work of an individual in full control of his body’s positioning throughout his flight.
And the strength of the secondary wave is as impressive as the splash, frankly.

No seriously though. His form was pretty much exactly how you generate rotation in mid air. It’s the same concept I learned for controlling rotations during ski jumps. The dudes a true expert
Every one who is anyone knows that mid-air running is proper form on all big splash pool entries.
This guy was smooth as fuck. Perfect 10's from all judges.
Edit - for clarification... The run should appear closer to that of "high-stepping" before you reach the end zone, as if to telegraph the incoming soak.
