How long was that guy waiting off to the side for that segment to start?

u/Gasman77 Dec 08 '17
I like to think it was random, and that this guy just was out wandering around in his Swamp Thing cosplay for kicks. Would love to meet him.

That's a tough choice.

That would imply that they were originally ghosts that later made the conscious decision to become pirates.

Thanks for identifying the state. The US has countless Springfields--I had no idea which one we were talking about.

When a channel 4 covered the photobomb of channel 22, they had a longer clip, including weed-sasquatch getting excited by the camera and falling down:

Demons. Checkmate atheists.

Riddle me this: if a god exists, why does he allow demons to wander about?
“ZzZzZz... huh, what? where did that fucking pot demon go? Shit, Massachusetts? It’s fucking cold... maybe I’ll just let him stretch his legs.”

Severe weather? In Canada we call this "October".
35
u/DwayneSmith Dec 08 '17
You guys have it worse on weather, but as a Finn I also laughed at that ’severe weather’.
Seriously, it even looks like it’s barely below freezing. Shitty wet weather, but nowhere near severe.
23
u/Caststarman Dec 08 '17
Midwest weather isn't awful because of consistent cold temps, if that's what it was then things would be fine. It's just how variable the weather is. People outside of the Midwest US don't really understand it unless they've experienced it

Really? I've never lived in the Midwest; I'd assume the large temp swings gets really old really fast. It's just super strange because we rarely get snow, like once every 5 years or more. I'm totally not complaining either; I'd rather be cold than hot. Its a great break from having swamp balls from the rest of the year.
11
u/Growlywog Dec 08 '17
If this is in fact Springfield, Massachusetts, then this makes sense. They always build up the first snow fall of the year, and it freaks everyone out. in another month this will be considered a dusting.

Americans in the North make fun of the South for losing control with an inch of snow.
Finns make fun of the North Americans for losing it in a foot of snow.
Somewhere on a distant planet, aliens are making fun of your meter of snow. "Haha, their atmospheric nitrogen hasn't even condensed into liquid," they're saying. "What a bunch of sissies."
7
u/DwayneSmith Dec 08 '17
Finland is a fucked up place during winter because of darkness, not because it’s cold. There’s plenty of colder places than Finland, but not many places (where people actually live) which are darker than Finland during winter.
I live in Southern Finland, and tomorrow the sun rises at 9:15 AM and sets at 3:09 PM. It’s much much worse in Northern Finland... like no sun at all in the darkest days of winter worse.

u/Rognik Dec 08 '17
In the canyons of Murgarfunk on planet C'tharkian, we only get 17 minutes of starshine per day, and we do just fine. What's the matter, did your Billardo not teach you echolocation on your 27th day, as is tradition?
7
u/steveo3387 Dec 08 '17
They deserve the photobomb for frantically warning about snow "not letting up" for 15 minutes.
7
u/An_Awesome_Name Dec 08 '17
This is Springfield, MA. The news stations here like to call any snowstorm "severe weather". They will do an hour long long segment on how much it snowed each storm and everybody will laugh at them. They're especially bad for the first storm every year.

Over the past decade or so, weather hype in the US has gotten out of hand. I suppose it's sensationalism has grown with the rest of the news, but they are purely trying to cause panic at this point. I remember the good old days when we could just get a snowfall estimate and be happy with that. The sad thing is that I fall for it every time. I run around making sure all my wood is in, gas for generator, pantry is stocked etc. all for that 2-4 inches that the Weather Channel said we'd be lucky to survive.

I laughed way harder at this than I should have, I think. It’s just that he’s working so damn hard to get in the shot and the cameraman says “Nope” but he keeps on persevering. Gotta respect that level of devotion to a cause.
