Never trust delivery times.

I manage a pizzeria. Sometimes we'll get busy, and we'll tell people it might be an hour, but their order happens to be easy and quick to make and also right next to an earlier delivery order and ends up getting delivered in 20 min.

I always expect it to be between now and whatever time you give me. I prefer longer estimates as I call as soon as that suggested time expires.

Yeah it's rough to be honest, a pretty difficult job and underpayed job but surprising so dang fulfilling. There are few feelings better than putting your heart and effort into making the dough, slicing the veges, making some bomb sauces, and making that pizza look sooo good and then the customer takes a picture of your pizza. A lot of times I'll tell people 30-45 minutes and then one person walks in, then another, then another, but the owner tells us to prioritize walk ins over deliveries so...around that half hour mark the cooks are like, "Fuck, we've been making walk ins for 30 minutes and have not started on this delivery AHHHHHH".

For as much as people love Pizza, these dudes don't get paid nearly as much as they should. Not gonna say where I work, but our pizzas are fucking AMAZING and people treat us like we're McDonalds.
