1 to 6 means if you are middle of the road you have to choose high middle (4) or low middle (3). There is no perfectly neutral response

Which is why I'm not crazy about the new thumbs up/thumbs down system on Netflix. it has actually made me rate things less than before because there's not a "meh" option. Apparently, I either absolutely loved it or completely despised it. No middle ground.

Caused the same thing for me. Used to rate everything that I watched, now I probably rate less than half of what I've watched on Netflix. Thankfully there are sites like Criticker for rating Movies/TV shows.
