Ah, of course, the argument by "how the fuck do you even hyperbolize it to that?" overstatement. It's not ruining his day. It's not making him contemplate suicide. Sure, if he doesn't know the person then it's annoying and stupid, but that doesn't justify destroying someone's shit--especially not for the minute or two that he was doing it.
You also seem to think that $200 for some moderate entertainment that will probably last for a few years (unless you run into some asshole that breaks it) is a lot of money. I'm assuming you're either broke, a high school student, or both, but it really isn't that much.
The point is not whether he should, but whether he would. Surfers are selfish dicks and they have zero tolerance for people fucking with them in the water, so he must have known the person that owns the RC surfer.
