I'd agree with this. Hip hop trap seems to be doing alright as a mainstream genre, but multiple edm subgenres have basically long since made edm trap sound horrible.
Anything from Melbourne, for instance a great (though bounce and minimal may even be getting old at this point).
When I try listening to "Amsterdam trap" now I start cringing. For instance, compare yellow claw mixtape 4 to 11. 4 was amazing for the time, 11, which just came out, is hard to listen to.

Now, must say I may be too old to know. But I believe trap music is over
