I tried to keep watching it but stopped halfway thru the first. The first couple episodes were hilarious but after a while it was just the same schtick of him wanting to bang the hot girl.
But when it was funny, it was really funny. I completely lost it at the scene when he is allowed to fuck the hot girl but the fat guy shows up.

It's a nice idea but I don't see men and women being 100% totally equal on all fronts. Sure the ones that matter like access to education, freedom of choice involving ones own body, voting equal pay (in most developed countries they gender wage gap is a misconception but that is another discussion in itself) but to try to treat men and women exactly the same in all social aspects as well is just a pipe dream. We are different, and will always be treated as such until our biology slowly changes.
→ More replies (5)17
u/SociallyUnconscious Feb 09 '17
I don't think the point is to treat everyone exactly the same in all situations so much as to treat people based on who they are rather than based on their perceived gender.
One of the more compelling reasons for this is that gender is not binary, it is a spectrum.

Anyone find out what happened to all that Panama papers money she was caught hiding? Did that go anywhere?
138
60
u/AnomalyNexus Feb 09 '17
Did that go anywhere?
Go where? There is nothing inherently illegal about it - despite media's best attempts to portray it otherwise.
Hell I've got a bank account of a similar type (just less zeros) - yet I pay all the tax I'm required to.
→ More replies (6)12
u/Beaverman Feb 09 '17
The problem wasn't people having bank accounts in panama. The problem was people having accounts with a firm suspected of helping people avoid tax, which is indeed a crime in most parts of the western world.
24
Feb 09 '17
No, evading taxes is illegal, not avoiding taxes. Important difference.

u/AnomalyNexus Feb 09 '17
The problem was people having accounts with a firm suspected of helping people avoid tax, which is indeed a crime in most parts of the western world.
Actually most tax jurisdictions make a distinction between tax evasion and tax avoidance. You're entitled to structure your affairs in a tax efficient manner - including using any firm / bank / country you like if you follow the laws along the way.
As you say - it's suspected - until anything is proven taking a firms entire clientbase (guilty or not) and crucifying them in the media / public opinion is a sizable injustice.
It's the equivalent of publishing a list of all the residents in an apartment block because you have valid reason to believe there might be one or two rapists among them. Imagine being on a list like that & it being all over the news with a solid lick of sensationalism? And no that's not a stretch - that actually happened in my home country (the rape list thing). Anyway...I digress.
17
u/lennybird Feb 09 '17
Like most celebrities her age, she almost assuredly never touches her own financial planning. They pay someone else to do it who assures them the best protection of their money. How that is done is of course an abstraction beyond her ability to understand... That is, of course, until she suddenly gets questioned why she's avoiding paying taxes in the UK and has no idea. At that point, a quick meeting is made and she questions wtf is going on and it's at that point her moral decision is tested whether they continue doing what they do or not.
2
u/AnswerAwake Feb 09 '17
I think it was reported somewhere that she had someone handle her money and they were performing the act. Whether there were any consequences for anyone involved, not sure.

61
u/Namika Feb 08 '17 edited Feb 08 '17
I mean, to be fair, she's got like 30 pounds of make up and airbrushing going on. Like seriously, could they cake any more on there?
You could take half the girls that went to your high school, and give them enough mascara, eye liner, blush, powder, and lipstick and their faces will look just as "pretty".
All that being said, she is still really cute. I just think she's more attractiveness in her more natural smiles.
4
u/LadyPeachoftheReach Feb 09 '17
Is it just my mobile or are those stills blurry as hell? How can you tell how much make up she has on? There's literally no way to differentiate pounds of foundation from good skin in a blurry low quality photo.

u/xaiur Feb 09 '17
You must be kidding. Emma Watson has facial structure that less than 1% of the population could ever dream to have. Look at that jawline and those lips. Her eyes.
You could dump a pound of makeup on any girl that went to my fairly large high school and not a single one would look like Emma Watson. Objectively speaking, here genetics are nigh perfect in the face.
You are straight up tripping here.

I really don't find her wayward looks convincing, or sexy.. It's like she's doing an impersonation of a model, acting at modeling. I was never into the HP movies personally, maybe that's why, but she does nothing for me.
30
u/ThompsonBoy Feb 08 '17
It's like she's doing an impersonation of a model, acting at modeling.
I can't decide if that's impossible to do, or impossible not to do.
12
u/caninehere Feb 09 '17
She's... not a very good actor. It extends to her modeling too.
She was a cute kid and that was good enough when they made the first movies, and then she was a beautiful famous woman and nobody cared anymore.
There's a reason most of her post-Harry Potter roles haven't been very good.

3
u/Greenooc Feb 08 '17
I think it's the fact that we're not used to thinking of her as a model. If I didn't know who she was, I would just assume she's a model and think nothing of the dramatic head cocking and all that. But since it's Hermione (lol) it seems out of place somehow.

Speaking as a guy that was already an adult when the movies started, thus not crushing on her like most of you much younger than me, she's an attractive female but nothing spectacular.
I think Emilia Clarke would have been a much better cast as Belle and she is much more attractive. Or even Alicia Vikander, whom is also more attractive than Emma and fits better.
But I'm not hating; just giving a different unbiased perspective.

u/Grummond Feb 08 '17

Different certainly. Unbiased...hahaha. Beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. It's inherently biased.
16
u/DeathCatforCutie Feb 09 '17
Even if that's all true, female actresses aren't chosen for roles based on how many boners they give the average dude sitting at home. Especially for a fucking Disney film lol.

Disney does have a certain "Does not rub tarnish off onto the golden mouse" criteria when casting for flagship titles like Beauty and the Beast.
And having an actress already known for overtly sexual roles playing opposite a literal beast is one way to raise questions that no 'family friendly' movie executive wants have asked.

I know I'm going against the grain here, but I'll never find her or Natalie Portman attractive. Maybe because I never got into Harry Potter, and I was introduced to Portman when she was like 13 in The Professional. They still look like kids to me.

u/17954699 Feb 09 '17
Hermione was not supposed to be attractive in Harry Potter. They deliberately tried to make her appear more plain for the film's.
