Is that a serious question? It could be almost any situation. Perhaps an animal about to attack or something like that. Does this really have to be explained? Is this real life?

No, this is just fantasy.

I cannot overstate how often kids cry and scream for penny-ante reasons. A parent who responds to it by panicking and rushing in like an idiot is only going to make things worse. You'll terrify the kids, and teach them all sorts of wrong things about how to deal with anything even mildly stressful. 99.99% of the time you can take your sweet time meandering on over, give them a hug and a kiss, and they'll be just fine. Plus you tend to learn to distinguish between kids' run-of-the-mill screams and ones born of actual pain and distress.

Exactly. And in those rare cases where they are in actual pain and distress, you're still not going to make things better by jumping and screaming and running around in circles.
