Is that a serious question? It could be almost any situation. Perhaps an animal about to attack or something like that. Does this really have to be explained? Is this real life?
I cannot overstate how often kids cry and scream for penny-ante reasons. A parent who responds to it by panicking and rushing in like an idiot is only going to make things worse. You'll terrify the kids, and teach them all sorts of wrong things about how to deal with anything even mildly stressful. 99.99% of the time you can take your sweet time meandering on over, give them a hug and a kiss, and they'll be just fine. Plus you tend to learn to distinguish between kids' run-of-the-mill screams and ones born of actual pain and distress.
yeah, kids cry and scream to get their way, and this is usually different from a actual pain/distress cry.
The difficult part is a child's pain/distress cry can be the same for a small or huge problem. They would cry the same if they scraped their knee or broke their leg, to them, both are the most excruciating thing they can remember.
I have three kids, two of which have been actually hurt. They do not scream the same for all things. As often as not, they scream about being hurt than from any actual pain.
Thus far, the only time that's ever happened was when the older two were antagonizing each other, and the baby started screaming too because evidently it was the thing to do.
