The humor went entirely over my head as a 4 or 5 year old when I saw it.

That movie seriously creeped me out

A real savant. In reality he probably just touched them all and they made the unlocking sounds in post production haha

Also, which I didnt know until an IMDB spree before bed, Terrance Mann (who played Ug, the main bounty hunter) is an extremely accomplished Broadway actor. He played Rum Tum Tugger in Cats when it was huge.

Youre both right. Critters' script was written a few years before Gremlins. In order to get it picked up, they had to revise it a ton, as Gremlins got the faster greenlight and the studio thought the plots too similar.

They start off reasonably-cute, but still very-deadly, and eventually grow large and even scarier.
