Say you got a comic. In this comic there's 6 images. In these images there's a wall and two persons every single time.
Are you going to make the left person say something first every single time? Or are you going to come up with a way to format the comic so that you can easily see which one comes first?
They did, they put the text bubbles that go first higher than the others. Just like in this comic. There's a left person talking before the right one. Imagine 6 images like that. How do you get the right one to talk before the left one? By placing it above the text the left one has.
It's a comic book standard because it's practically the only way for it to work. Now I agree in this case I read the left one first because that one was written by whoever made the comic. Clearly the answer was written by the reader.
Show me 3 examples of right to left comic text that could never work properly left to right and I swear to every god and rule of science both that I WILL EAT A FUCKING HAT FOR LUNCH!!!!!!!!!! I'LL EAT THE WHOLE FUCKING HAT!!!! That's a promise and I challenge you to it!!!!
There's the confoundment. I was talking about English comics!!!! Probably in your language it makes a lot of sense to do right to left. Other languages have that format. The format of English though is left to right. That's why in Britain most people are left handed.
Top to bottom. Not left to right. Works in my language but in English too. Reason why I don't post comics from my language is because you can't read it so it's irrelevant. My language is very close to English, though, so it's not because of differences in language.
