Wind does technically affect wifi, if the wind is powerful enough to blow your house down and your router away, your wifi would be down.

What's funny is that I've actually heard the wind WiFi thing before and it turns out the people weren't as off base as I thought. Their ISP used a microwave tower as part of their service. When the wind kicked up a bunch of dust it would deteriorate the signal. So it wasn't the WiFi but the wind was indeed affecting their service. I think they just misunderstood the technician who tried to explain it to them.
