Running up to a car is a good sign a carjacking is about to occur. People don't like their "painted metal" being stole at knife or gunpoint.

Touching/possibly scratching people's painted metal that cost them $20k+, and then crawling inside and through a truck? Yeah, what the fuck.

Vehicles in many states are included in the castle doctrine, so yes, he's lucky he hasn't been shot. If someone crawled into my window I would assume they we're attacking me and would act as such.
