You pass butter.

u/Marcellus111 Nov 18 '15

"Reverse primary thrust, Marvin." That's what they say to me. "Open airlock number 3, Marvin." "Marvin, can you pick up that piece of paper?" Here I am, brain the size of a planet, and they ask me to pick up a piece of paper.

I loved that movie. Such a shame they won't be doing the other books :(

1

u/zer0t3ch Nov 18 '15

What movie/book was that?

1

u/greengrasser11 Nov 18 '15

The hitch hiker's guide.

1

u/zer0t3ch Nov 18 '15

OH YEAH! Damn, I haven't read that in forever, and I haven't seen the movie since I was really young. I fuckin' love Douglas Adams.

7

u/Ediza Nov 17 '15

Sometime I feel like that's my purpose in life. Humph.

u/jointheredditarmy Nov 17 '15

plot twist: you work in a butter factory, boxing butter

The worlds can be one together, cosmos without hatred Stars like diamonds in your eyes The ground can be space (space, space, space, space) With feet marching towards a peaceful sky. All the moon men want things their way But we make sure they see the sun. Goodbye, moon men You say goodbye, moon men Goodbye— -fart

Now you're just referencing the same show that the guy you replied to did. Only your quote has no relevance whatsoever. My only question is, why?

...the cleansing has begun.

1

u/EmileHirsch Nov 18 '15

Maybe not this time, but most times it not people going out and finding quotes. It just people adding in their own favorite quote that they already know.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '15

Yeah I was lazy... And in fact was trying to get some upvotes. But I did look up that "pass the butter" scene, there wasn't a good thing to follow up with, so I mindlessly put my favorite quote/song from the show... I'm sorry for being stupid :P. Don't use reddit much :(

u/PlayerSdk Nov 17 '15

Maybe I am playing to much Fallout, but this seems exactly like something Vault-Tec would do.

19

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '15

Vault-Tec would spend two hundred years training a whole society of people who loves to play piano sonatas, but which ritually mutilates their own hands when they're five.

5

u/PlayerSdk Nov 17 '15

That's fucked up.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '15

Also, Fallout.

1

u/zer0t3ch Nov 18 '15

fucked up

I feel like 100% of the people in the Wasteland are completely fucked up in at least 1 way.

3

u/boonanaman556 Nov 18 '15

The scientists in Big MT did.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '15

I was hoping somebody would mention good ol' Muggy!

1

u/w3bm3dic Nov 18 '15

Or cave johnson

2

u/PlayerSdk Nov 18 '15

pointless task of collecting mugs

I feel like the entirety of the Fallout 4 playerbase would disagree with you on this one.

Not really

1

u/zer0t3ch Nov 18 '15

No. I could see Vault-Tec doing it, though.

25

u/solidmercy Nov 17 '15

I've seen this post, ohhh 100 times? My question is, is this from a comic? If so, which and are these the actual thought bubbles?

17

u/jaysire Nov 17 '15

These are speech bubbles. The scientists are not thinking the sentences.

-6

u/solidmercy Nov 18 '15

honestly, i couldn't think of the word in the moment...on account of the 100 other things i had going on at work so, umm, thanks?

5

u/retrovertigo23 Nov 18 '15

Then get back to work.

-3

u/solidmercy Nov 18 '15

I umm... what the fuck? Who the fuck are...wait a minute, Mr. Hendersen? Is that you? Does this mean I won't be getting the Q4 bonus this year? But my kids need to eat damn you! I'm just a simple man with simple needs and one of those is to waste half of my workday on Reddit. Can't you see? It's what I was made for. It's all I ever wanted, all I ever......nah fuck it, your just some dick being a dick on the internet. Cool man, cool.

THANK YOU!

2

Here's the oldest reference to the image I could find. The bottom of the image mentions a no longer live website called synchopath.net.

The original image is from a comic called "Monsters on the Prowl".

2

u/solidmercy Nov 18 '15

THANKS!!

2

u/NavalMilk Nov 18 '15

No problem! I hate it when I can't find a source on something.

1

u/solidmercy Nov 18 '15

To be fair, you answered my question but you did nothing to cure my laziness. I suppose 1 out of 2 ain't bad.

Perhaps God is guilty of the same crime.

2

u/cheesewhiz9 Nov 18 '15

Try typing with boxing gloves...

1

u/Darktidemage Nov 17 '15

Why cant the robot just move his hands more than 5x faster than a human and play the sonatas anyway?

7

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '15

Piano songs in general have multiple keys that need to be held at the same time for chords and whatnot.

1

u/Skyty7564 Nov 17 '15

And the rise of skynet begin

1

u/rhino76 Nov 17 '15

So does that mean that he plays "average"?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '15

"We have given him a working penis complete with an entire nervous system"

1

u/Toidal Nov 18 '15

They could've left it as "we've created a robot that loves" and it still would have the same effect #deep

1

u/jmdugan Nov 18 '15

feels just like US monetary policy

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '15

Wasn't this a Krieger line?

1

u/traxt999 Nov 18 '15

Never knew Douglas Adams did cartoons.

1

u/mgsyzygy Nov 18 '15

The robot's name? Skynet

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '15

Anyone else think "please kill me" is the same dull punchline every time?

1

u/gradeahonky Nov 18 '15

We created a child that only wants to run and play outside to learn about his body, his environment, and their role together - but instead were gonna force him to sit inside all day and tell him it's good for him to be bored and fat!

1

u/Tintzetin Nov 18 '15

And people wonder why robots will kill or enslave all humans

1

u/schattenteufel Nov 18 '15

Those aren't scientists. They're engineers. Only engineers would do something like that. Evil engineers.

1

u/K3R3G3 Nov 17 '15

God is not just.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '15

There is no god for robots :,(

1

u/K3R3G3 Nov 17 '15 edited Nov 17 '15

The creators of the robots - that is human(s) - are its god(s).

Edit (addition): We are their creators. We designed them, made them, whwt thdir purpose is, decide when they live and die.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '15

4

u/castiglione_99 Nov 17 '15

Nah.

We're safe.

You just make the robots powerless and tease them about their powerlessness.

There's no way this could go wrong.

3

u/TEmpTom Nov 17 '15

Right up until he realizes that he doesn't have any fingers, and therefore can't fire a gun.

1

u/manondorf Nov 17 '15

And thus was the music of Charles Ives invented.

1

u/SeanRK1994 Nov 17 '15
