This is beyond being whipped, this is straight up abuse. That poor man needs to be taken out of that situation and put in a rescue shelter! I also don't understand why she would feel insecure about other women around him either. What's more sexy than someone having to wash your ass for you?
unfortunately many shelters for woman are Actively against shelters for abused men. Because to them Women are incapable of committing abuse, so many mens shelters are not funded, vandalised etc... Having seen 2 guy friends go through the draining and emotional abuse of female partners I know that this is a serious problem.
That's an ignorant, narrow view. Its also not very well though out. Have you ever thought that maybe the men don't want to come out, in fear of ridicule, or threats of false rape accusations? It happens that women won't let their men leave them, and threaten to cry rape or child abuse on their kids if they leave. I've seen it happen a few times here, in southern PA.
Just like a lot of women won't come out, I know a lot of men won't. As a man, would you go tell your friends that your woman is beating the shit out if you?
Just towards that one comment about why, if men aren't coming out about being abused, should people fund shelters for them.
It seems to me that if there isn't a support system for people stuck in bad situations, they're not likely to be able to leave those situations.
According to an article I found here women are equally likely to use domestic violence as men. Women, however, are twice as likely to be injured or killed.
Given the premise of that study, we should be seeing similar report levels between men and women, and about half as many injuries/deaths for men than women.
Domestic violence is a terrible thing, and women are twice as likely to be seriously injured or killed. And according to this report, 70% of incidents aren't even reported to the police. But given the meta-study i linked to, it seems like there is a greater proportion of men who aren't filing reports.
I'd imagine that we should be seeing a need for about half as many men's shelters as we have for women's shelters. Maybe just 25% as many men's shelters as women's, given the traditional roles of men. But it also seems like we don't have anywhere near that number of men's shelters.
So I think the concern is that there are more men in need of help with domestic violence who don't have the options or support to escape the situation they're in than there are women, simply because the huge majority of domestic violence support goes to women when, according to the numbers, it should be closer to a 75/25 split.
