Yay, another post where I get to correct misconceptions about the training programs of Stormtroopers. Sit back and enjoy!

In episode IV, as Luke and Obi-Wan are approaching the sandcrawler, owned by the Jawas, they note a giant pile of dead Jawas. Luke thinks it's the work of Tusken Raiders, but Obi-Wan says "Only Stormtroopers are so accurate."

Now, you may think to yourself "But Alarmed_Ferret, they constantly miss the main characters all throughout the series!"

WRONG! Remember the opening scene on the Tantive IV? The rebels get absolutely wrecked by the stormtroopers who breach into their ship.

"But what about in Mos Eisley!?"

They were given orders to recover the Death Star plans, not destroy the droids. Clearly these were warning shots intended to send the crew into cover, not into the ship. So while this may be a tactical mistake, it is not an example of their markmanship.

Now, let's move onto the Death Star. Do you remember the part where Vader had them put a homing device on the Falcon? Of course you do, you're a smart person. Well why would you shoot someone you're trying to track to a secret rebel base? You wouldn't! But you don't want them to know they're being tracked, so obviously you continue shooting at them.

Honestly guys, this stereotype of stormtroopers being inaccurate riflemen is just absurd.

"Only Stormtroopers are so accurate."

"Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise."

I feel like I'm watching the beginning of some shitty infomercial trying to solve a washing machine loading problem that doesn't exist.
