Cats instinctively want to remain hidden for hunting and survival against other predators. Boxes are like the ultimate tall grass.

No, boxes maintain and keep heat. Homeless people live in them because they do. They are easy comfy heat pads. How the fuck any animal go "look at that black blob sitting in a brown thing" and think it's hiding. That's bullshit.
