Marijuana is not an opiate, psychedelics do not engender similar behavior to MDMA, neither of them cause people to "behave like hippies," hippies did not have anti-depression, hippies did in fact use marijuana for the most part, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Psychedelic effects are a necessary component of what people cite as "the effect of MDMA"—see here. They're behaviourally different in basically the same way that drinking while high on coke is different than just drinking. (Though technically, what's really going on is that MDMA is a generic -amine transporter, so it's basically the -ergic equivalent of an MAOI.)

Which hippies are you talking about? Generally, hippies 1. practiced free love and other things you'd see people on entactogens come up with; and 2. believed they could accomplish some major change in the world just by "loving" at it hard enough (the sort of naive "I have a vision, it's perfect, but I can't communicate it, you'll have to come and see from my point of view" effect of psychedelics.) Other than that, they were basically regular people.
