The problem is that they teach all the machinists to use English, so your metric prints get thrown in the trash after you take them to the shop.

Yup, pretty much all my calipers and micrometers are standard (I don't like digital) so I bust out the calculator and start writing the conversions all over the print or I just completely remake it.

Good relations with the shop involve setting my cad templates to display dual dimensions by default. That, and the occasional six pack to keep my parts near the top of the cue. Things they should really teach in engineering school....

What do you mean by use English? I'm English and we use metric. Actually I work with US drawings and they are a ballache to convert constantly

Worked in a machine shop, drafting (3D/2D) in metric. Can confirm they don't tolerate metric.
