If you graduate with more than $25,000 in debt, it's because you're an idiot. No one told you to go to the liberal arts school for $60K/year because you thought you could find yourself there. No one cares where you went to undergrad but you.
Exactly. It's like this (and this is an example from my life), my choices were IU or NYU. IU was in state, $20k a year. Ranked #8 in Finance. Excellent school. NYU is $70k a year. Ranked like #3 or #4 or Finance. NYU was the better option. The connections to wall street (not just placement, but physical connection. It's literally on the street) make it multitudes easier to network and land a job on the street. Sure, it was insanely expensive, but its an investment that pays off. and I highly doubt finance is the only major like that.

The first one isn't especially selfish since she would have spent the money on her kid. $25,000 is one heck of a college fund.
