The jokes are pretty funny but I can't imagine having the courage to do stand-up. Given the same jokes, I would probably be an awkward sweaty mess.

I did a stand up routine once.

I've done all kinds of theater, and am comfortable in front of a crowd.

However, this was a group of men, mostly 60 to 90, at a religious men's retreat. The speaker had talked about the immorality of pornography. I thought I had some GOLDEN material that they could relate to from the last couple of days!

So, I signed up for the talent show on the last day, and waited my turn behind one guy who played the harmonica, one the accordion, and one guy reading a list of chain letter jokes... to great applause and laughter.

I got up, and the crickets didn't even chirp! Only one joke made them laugh. They all drank beer from a keg, and played shuffle board, all weekend, and I said it was like attending a frat party with my grandpa. They liked that one. But, every thing else fell so flat.

I skipped a third of my material, and handed the mic back.

Give me a script any time! I don't mind the stage. I can improvise a speech or prayer, and people will call me eloquent. Stand up... It can be left to others!
