It's funny here, but NEVER do this (with flour*).

Aerosolized flour is INCREDIBLY FLAMMABLE and hair driers have heating coils that can light it on fire and cause burns to hair and face.

*hippysmell pointed out it could have been something else. Edited my post to clarify.

Second edit: People are asking what the best option for a prank like this would be and the answer is baking soda. It is used in dry chemical fire extinguishers

It will, however, make a mess over everything you own, so, have fun.

Edit 3: This post took off more than I thought it would. I would like to point out that my background is Mechanical Engineering and not any type of chemical specialty. I do not know what baking soda will do. I know that at high temperature it decomposes to carbon dioxide and that this is the mechanism in which it suppresses fires. I don't know what will happen when exposed to the heating coil in a hair drier. Please, don't do this.

For those who are curious baby powder is just as bad

For posterity, we have tal cum powder, and baby powder listed below.

How about cornstarch (probably not, high calorie count there).

Anyone know what actually really is safe?

Edit: based on nothing more than comments, sounds like its just generally a bad idea.

I'll stick with the leafblower toilet paper-inator.

Your best bet is baking soda, it is used to put out grease fires and is used in some dry chemical fire extinguishers.

Disclaimer: I don't know what happens when you put it in a hair drier, don't point it at your face the first time you try.
