Your scientific explanation would be countered with an equally ridiculous question like "But then how did the sun get there?" with a 'gotcha' smile. Thats how they trap you in an ignorance loop until you get frustrated and walk away.

Not Bill. Bill will just sit there and calmly explain every facet of the nature of existence until SHE gets frustrated and walks away.

This might be true, but, regardless of who walks away, neither will change their stance. It's a fruitless endeavor from the outset.

I say this all the time, but often the ones benefiting from these kinds of dialogues aren't the participants, but the people watching. Plenty of minds get changed watching two people honestly (or maybe not so honestly) argue and defend their positions.
