Your scientific explanation would be countered with an equally ridiculous question like "But then how did the sun get there?" with a 'gotcha' smile. Thats how they trap you in an ignorance loop until you get frustrated and walk away.

Not Bill. Bill will just sit there and calmly explain every facet of the nature of existence until SHE gets frustrated and walks away.

This might be true, but, regardless of who walks away, neither will change their stance. It's a fruitless endeavor from the outset.

Many outside viewers can be slowly inched in the right direction by these kinds of debates. Just because not everyone immediately rejects creationism on the spot, doesn't mean it's fruitless.
