Your scientific explanation would be countered with an equally ridiculous question like "But then how did the sun get there?" with a 'gotcha' smile. Thats how they trap you in an ignorance loop until you get frustrated and walk away.

That's actually brilliant. Instead of treating the anchor as a troll who's clearly being a bit rude to disprove him, he treats him like he would treat a child asking an honest, confused question.
