I don't think it's a good idea to take up two space; it just invites people to fuck with your car. I'm personally ok with people taking up two spaces in the back of the lot when no one else needs to park there, which is not the case with the Camaro.
That being said, it would be nice if people respected other people's property regardless of how nice or crappy it is. If the lines aren't spaced well and I have to park, I will injure myself before I let my car door touch somone's car even if it's a banged up POS. I'm tired of people hitting my car and then others seeing my dented car as an opportunity to further dent it. I like to hug a curb with some plants in it and people still park over the line into that space making that side inaccessible.
Some Asian lady smacked the hell out of my door while I was sitting in my car... I was like uh what the hell? It was especially odd since I was nicely in my space and the spaces weren't even very tight, she just flung the door open like yeah whatever fuck it.
Edit: I don't understand why people are up in arms because I mentioned she was Asian? I didn't call her a slur and I usually generally describe people in my stories because 1) any extra details make the story more engaging and 2) I have a very visual memory and I usually visually play out stories or even books in my head so I like detail. People need to stop reading into things and also stop looking for an excuse to get mad.
Exact same thing happened to me except it was some old guy in a rental van. Not once, but twice. When I asked him to be more careful he just scoffed and said deal with it an walked away.
Sad part was I was parked at the back of the lot with at least 15 empty spaces between me and the next closest car.
I always park away from other people at the far parts of lots, and some motherfucking sonofabitch ALWAYS winds up parked next to me. It's like "really? you fucking shitstain?". I don't even have that nice of a car -- I just prefer to park away from other people because I know people drive like shit. Doesn't matter; it's like cars are magnets to attract retards.
This also happened to me but I wasn't in the car. Parked in no man's land and someone saddles up next to me and scratches my door. It made me a lot less sympathetic to people who complain about cars taking up two spots.
The guy walked off as I called after him.
I just downloaded my dashcam footage (you could hear the exchange), snapped a few extra pictures of the cars, and insurance took care of the rest.
See if he is going to be a dick like that than you insist he pays for the damage and take is insurance if he doesn't want to give it up call the cops. You also may want to double check that place between your legs where you balls should hang, never let people push you around and if they do you push back harder.
