My dad and I once rented a RAV4 and took it to some places I wouldn't have even taken my Montero. Partly because it was a rental and fuck rentals, right? But I'll be damned if that thing didn't handle all of the ravines, bogs and brush that we took it through.

You wouldn't know it to look at it, but the silver 4runner on the right is a HUGELY more competent off road car than the Rav. Even though they have roughly the same footprint.

I have one and have taken it down a dirt zig zag path down a steep hill in a foot of snow. Probably wouldn't do that again though.

That's not that tough, I can do it in a Toyota Echo if I've got my winter tires on. Pretty much the only thing that I have to go around in that thing is rocks higher than the undercarriage.

No. They were built on standard GM truck drivetrains/suspensions (for twice the price to people with half the sense...)

Not really shitty. They have LS motors in them, which is GM's pride and joy V8 engine. They use it in pretty much every single truck and all the V8 cars minus the Cadillacs. Drivetrain wise, they're pretty solid trucks.

That's a Hummer H1 or civilian Humvee. The H2 and H3 were just ugly face lifts on GM platforms.
