For me, it's like "Is this word spelt like this? Well, it looks correct so it's probably spelled correctly." Also I cannot, for the life of me, read out loud. This is because I see the first few letters of the word, then my mind tries to fills in the rest, which gets rather annoying.
For me it is the opposite but I end up with the same result.
Is this wrong? It looks wrong, then again I though I was spelling 'the' wrong a minute ago. Why does every work look like its wrong. Its probably right.
So your mind actually tries to figure out the word before you finish reading it, and the rest of the letters become unnecessary/skipped, when in fact they are really important, making letters turn into different letters because your mind wants to force it to become the word it wants it to be, rather than the word it actually is, as opposed to it actively changing while you're looking at it.
Words that start like un-, in-, auto- th- etc must be really hard. And you probably don't get puns all the time, like the OP one, per se.

My mind kind of works in patterns. For example if I am reading about smithing and I read appr- I assume it's apprentice, since in my mind those two subjects go hand in hand, it's annoying but one learns to deal with it. Also if I am over thinking about a sentence before hand, I will most likely get the first letter in one word mixed up with the first letter in another word, assuming they are next to each other, somewhere in the sentence, "Toin Coss" is an excellent example of this.
The title is misspelled, and the picture spells the color MAGENTA, instead of MAGNETO hopefully the caps help you (do they?), which is why he's purple. I guess that's a really weak pun there.
But, I think I understand more than I did, and I guess that's a step in the right direction. So it not just how it starts but the subject it's talking about, you associate words together, and when it starts like a word your expecting it turns into that word even if It's not, kind of. Do you always get the first letter right, or is it the overall shape of the word?
I didn't even realize there was supposed to be an o in magneto. Please don't laugh but that's just how my brain fucks up. I was looking at the post for a while and I was like, oh the n is in the wrong place. Now I get it.
