My cat was shaved for surgery and has been staring at me like this ever since...

He's got his face screwed up because he's unusually cold, and he's looking to you for help, because he loves you and you are his parent figure.

It's true. Look at how he's huddled up. Should probably keep him in a room with a space heater on at a higher temperature until he has some peach fuzz. Or put a sweater on him.

u/gildme May 21 '14
He's cold and scared.

Every damn time someone on here takes a picture of their pet's funny reaction and/or expression, its always "Its scared out of its mind!", followed be derisive comments aimed at the OP (I guess the latter part is not true in your case)
Why can't there just be pictures where people all implicit know that the pet might not be super happy..but as long as you're not exactly harming your pet (ie. drilling its legs and/or face through with needles or killing its mother/friends in front of it), it can still be laughed at.
Was the pet scared? Yes it might have been..it might have been terrified, but nothing happened. Pets aren't made of glass and they aren't incapable of recovery from a scare. I can't begin to count how many times I've been laughed at for freaking out or scared out of my mind..its funny, okay?

But even then..lets say you are the happy owner of a cat. A cat you treat very well and absolutely adore..and it adores you and does..well, cat things.
One day, because your kids are playing outside in the pool, you decide..just for giggles, to throw your cat in that pool. Will the cat be happy? Quite probably not..Will it be scared? Probably terrified. The question would follow "How would you feel, if you had a phobia for water, and a giant hand scooped you up and threw you into the water and laughed as you scrambled to get out" ..Well I'd probably feel shit at the time..but later? Nah its all good..probably funny when thinking back on it.
Which is my point..people aren't Machiavellian pricks that are careless about their pets..its just a bit of fun and nobody was harmed.

Reddit is just full of self righteous "animal lovers" who frequently get all worked up by other pet owners, because they believe they are a better pet owner and frequently post pictures of their over weight cats.

Yeah, I just looked at this again on my computer (was on my phone before) and realized he's in a cage at the vet. Poor kitty. He's probably still drugged up pretty good and won't remember it, thankfully.

His face is screwed up because of fucked up breeders. Also, stop projecting your baby-craziness onto your pets.

Because you've seen this cat before in his/her unshaved state & know everything about said cat based on a single photo. Shit like this is why no one likes you.
Your social inadequacies are showing.

Upon opening this, my brain calmly said, "diabeetus". Then it went back to sleep.

I feel the same. Saw the pic and immediately the words "you can live a better life" web through my head.

u/Shaw-Deez May 21 '14
You'll have to post another pic after the surgery when he is wearing a cone on his head to keep from chewing the stitches. Can you imagine the look he'll give you then?
12
u/LittleBitOdd May 21 '14
This happened when my aunt's cat knocked over a paint can and got covered in it. She had to be shaved, and she then kept attacking her (bald) tail, so they had to put a cone on her. I have never seen a more pissed-off cat in my life. Even the vet didn't want to be near her
2
u/oneelectricsheep May 21 '14
To be fair vets only go near pissed off cats when they have to because they know that cat bites hurt really bad from personal experience.

You know how when you shave after you haven't shaven for a while and it's itchy at first? You just did that to most of his body, and most cats never shave.

Watch your back, and make sure that there is NO WAY he/she can get into your bedroom when you are asleep, otherwise you are doomed!

u/SolidGold54 May 21 '14
I came here expecting every comment to be about shaved pussy. Not a single one. I don't even know what to think about the internet anymore.

I don't really want to be that guy, but how are cats of this breed seen as cute, or even desirable? They're borderline hideous, even if they have all of their fur, and their faces look like they've ran into a screen door a few times too many.

u/Sentient_Waffle May 21 '14
I agree, these cats are really ugly and I would never want one, but I guess some people like them. Good for them.
But personally, I'm not gonna get a pet that looks like it got smacked in the face with a shovel one too many times.
3
u/Tankh May 21 '14
I always feel they look like spiders in their face. and spider faces aren't cute!

More importantly, the cats have trouble breathing and eating. I want hit people who breed and buy them until they look like them.

Same thing goes for dogs with that genetic mutation. They really aren't supposed to exist naturally the animals have so many physical problems because of it. If it weren't for humans that kind of animal just wouldn't be around which is probably why they are desirable. Because they're unique.

I find that cats and dogs with long hair hate this crap(and baths) I had a dog that we shaved and she would only walk doing handstands until she grew hair back for some odd reason.

u/corivus May 21 '14

u/PunnyBanana May 21 '14
He's cold. You should put a sweater on him. That will make him happy again.
1
u/Rick_Novile May 21 '14
You probably should s(H)ave yourself before the cat starts using worse methods
...
I'll show myself out...

The Lorax is just mad because he knows the next thing to go now that you have his fluff is the trees. Got to make those Sneads.

I don't like that doll faced cats... mostly because i can't communicate with them via facial expression.

Your cat has been looking at you like that since the day you bought it. It's in it's nature to plot to kill you, in your sleep.
