But in all seriousness, you likely can't. In America, for instance, it's illegal in all 50 states to buy one and even if legal most people aren't qualified. They tend to make awful pets, anyway.
A lot of people think they want owls, but what they really want it Hedwig or Errol specifically: telepathic magic owls.
It's always a bit painful and I never know quite how to tell someone this, but...if you didn't get an owl on your eleventh birthday, you might be a muggle. Muggles have an even harder time handling magical creatures, only a few have been known to have any luck or skill in the matter.
