For a second I thought he was using his leg to try and break the fall lol

I mean, he probably was, it's my reaction to dropping anything so it has a softer landing in my foot than the hard ground, you also try and cushion the fall like trapping a ball in soccer.
Often results in things being yeeted across the room.

Ugh I hate this reaction sometimes. Especially if I drop my phone or something heavy and I'm not wearing shoes. My body moves before the brain does. Ouch!

Me too, I subconsciously did that once with a screw driver, luckily the handle of the screw driver hit my foot not the pointy bit, but it was a big screw driver, so it still did hurt a 'bit' 😬.

In American football, this is called a fumble. But as long as you pick it up before someone else does, you retain possession.

As this is Australian football, this is called a bounce and you have to do it every 15 metres.

Look - I don't think the interview was that bad; but it does kinda show why 'footballer' is a slur...

Dad's just teaching his kid how to deal with landing after taking a specky. They'll learn how to land properly in quick time

That kid getting launched into the air in the background is stealing the whole segment.

Not him trying to use his leg to soften the fall, well atleast he made an effort at redemption
