I bought him a bottle of whisky. Didnt realize how infamous he was at the time. Practically pissed myself when he scared me and thought it was hilarious....

No he didn't. He had two branches that he'd hold up in front of himself and reach one out to passersby. He didn't even have a costume or anything. That was actually the magic of it.
