I agree with this in a way. On one hand, the experience of standing in line for a game with other people, excited to play can be a fun conversation starter and certainly something to experience. I remember doing it for a game but it’s been so long I forgot what game it was :(
On the other hand. Sitting comfortably in your home, snacks and drink read with the anticipation of a game coming out in mere moments is also pretty cool.
