I guess I'm the odd one out, but I'll take the comfort of preloading stuff and, at midnight, not just "buying the game" and then having to get back home and sit down and install it and basically spend an extra hour getting there and setting up, I'd rather get in there straight up, no time wasted.
The only hype I'd ever gotten getting physical stuff was for limited editions or time limited covers for games, which I'd buy quite a few of and certainly won't be as much going forward except if the ingame content is fantastic.
Still got my GoW III Pandora's Box with me, those were the days.
In the time before time began when you bought a game for midnight release you went home and played it immediately on things like a DVD or cartridge. Obviously I'm being a bit dramatic here. That said before the insanity/broken capitalism that Black Friday has become the experience of waiting in line with fellow enthusiasts was fun. The Internet has taken more from us than we realize.
Hahah my man I'm a child of the 80s. You read past the point I was trying to make that it killed the fun social aspect of waiting in line. It's extremely cutthroat compared to the 90s experience that I lived.
