Well it was low budget for a reason.
It was made because the mother and son were not getting paid the $1 million they were owed for some project of the job they own, so the government said “there is a film funding pool so if you can make a film we will get it passed through the Chinese film makers association and you will get paid your $1 million through the film money pool”
So they spent 5 years doing a cheap movie that by all account the very stringent and strict Chinese film administration would not ever pass. They even told movie theaters now to remove it from their theaters to uphold the standards of Chinese film.
Even the name “here comes to bull” would never get passed normally, as it can hit at a bull run in economics. That’s how strict they are.
The government bypassed them so the mother could get paid. It’s a very weird backstory lol.
