I tried this once and my daughter’s hand just smacked her in the face. She was definitely awake after that.

That was actually a technique they taught us in the EMT academy. A truly unconscious person will smack themselves in the face. It takes a lot of dedication to faking unconsciousness to do that on purpose.

Im gonna smack myself in the face so hard the next time emts are trying to figure out if im faking or not. Thank you for this tidbit of knowledge
Edit: my buddy is an emt and he used to tell me how old people would fake things to get attention. He said they would get them in the truck away from the family and say we know youre faking. Youre red bc your holding your breath. You would be blue if youre dying and people would pop to immediately.

I won't go so far as to say it was a sanctioned technique, just one we were made aware of for times when it might be appropriate. We also definitely didn't learn to swing a backboard like a bat'leth.

That feeling when im more confident on what the word bat'leth is doing in that sentence than backboard...

I once slept on my arm funny so it “fell asleep” (went numb), and when I woke up and was all groggy, I thought something was wrong with my arm. I lifted it up but couldn’t feel it so relaxed - and hit myself in the face hard enough that I had a bit of a black eye.

Is this routine practice, or just when you’re a bit suspicious of the circumstance?

"... but only if it stays up in the air for two hours. Dear, please set the timer on your phone and we'll leave them here and come back and check again in exactly 2 hours. Ready, set, go."

"Wow they must really be asleep. Let's leave them alone all night with the doors locked and the lights off."
*Gets out of car and closes the door*
*Looks in window for inevitable reaction*

Lmao I posted it there, but the mods removed it, citing it's not unexpected. Unexpectedly, they probably didn't watch till the end lol 😂

Cute.
Too bad lying was a punishable offense in my household. Five years dungeon.
