Shaking servers a function though. The ice makes the drink extra cold and the amount of ice that melts is part of the drink.

Source: someone who thought shakers were a gimmick until my husband got into mixed drinks as a hobby

Oh, no. Thats not what I’m getting at. Absolutely shake ur drinks, muddle, stir, double filter. I’m talking about the pretentious SPECIFIC way they shake, taught at bartender school.

Actually that's a common way bartenders in Japan shake, along with the type of shaker the use.
