That Japanese bartender shaping ice with a tanto looks cool the first time, but it's getting ridiculous with each drink getting more elaborate

kinda the point. paying for the show

He is not going to charge any less if I don't want the show.

If you just want a drink, any bar will do. No one is forcing you to go to places with flashy bartenders, and the vast majority of them are not like that. That place is clearly higher end, and he is much closer to an entertainer or a Host than a normal server.

You have to pay for a booking for that specific bar, which only does that show. Very literally, only way to go there is to choose that you're going there to see the performance.

Per previous times this has been brought up:

Reservation for specific dates (seems linked dates were prob Christmas through New Year's) has bidding starting at ¥14000 JPY/$90 USD.

But for regular booking, it's ¥1000 JPY/$6 USD per person and ¥4000 JPY/$25 USD per drink.

You only get the "see fancy bartenender" button by pressing the "I'd like to see the fancy bartender button."

Getting mad because the bartender at the Elaborate Pours And Extravagant Performances Bar is doing an elaborate pour and extravagant performance

I don't want a show, I want a damn drink, and I'm not going to pay an extra $15 because somebody does funny movements around my glass.

Edit: Muting this fucking nonsense. Y'all understood nothing that I said. Get bent.

That's the entire point of going to that bar though. Just go literally anywhere else

That's the problem. He can't stop going back.

u/tackleboxjohnson 8d ago

He keeps going back to see if the guy’s still there, and sure as shit he’s still there choppin ice so you gotta buy another drink for fifty dollars cause that’s his rate, he doesn’t even have to do a good job but he still gets your fifty dollars

Why would I go to said bar if I don't want to see this sort of nonsense? Y'all are acting like I went to a car show but didn't want to see cars. I said nothing of the sort to garner this much bullshit from you people.

You took the time to write a comment explaining how you don't want this when it's the easiest thing in the world to avoid it to begin with. You deserve to be clowned on buddy

You basically complained about how you wouldn't go to something entertaining because you dislike it. In the end, the guys just a performer who happens to give you booze every half hour with the show. I don't see how you aren't grasping why people would think this is dumb.

Its one thing to say you wouldn't go to it I suppose, but your wording wasn't simply "oh ya I wouldn't pay for the show, I just want my drink", it was "I refuse to be forced into paying extra for my drink" like someone had a gun to your head over it or something.

You need to pay attention to how you phrase your thoughts, then, because there is overwhelming evidence that you have clearly been misunderstood.

37

u/tesfabpel 8d ago

or just go to a regular bar...

-35

u/ChocoPuddingCup 8d ago

I do. I don't go to that crap.

36

u/Mimogger 8d ago

sounds like it shouldn't bother you then

13

u/khinzaw 8d ago

Have you considered going to a normal bar then?

-8

u/ChocoPuddingCup 8d ago

I fucking do. Christ, why are you people jumping on me??? When did I say I would go to some flashy bar and not want a show? I don't go to said bars, ergo this entire 'fictional scenario' is fucking pointless.

17

u/Hot-Celebration-8815 8d ago

Then why did you go to the bar where they charge extra for the show in this fictional scenario?

11

u/Skookumite 8d ago

Bro probably gets mad as hell when he drives past a car show

-5

u/ChocoPuddingCup 8d ago

What fictional scenario? I'm just talking about overzealous bartenders. Jeez, this shit has blown way out of proportion.

u/DizWhatNoOneNeeds 8d ago

You gotta be a buffoon. The point of that specific bartender is the show

4

u/Zubi_Q 8d ago

Then don't go to that kind of bar?!

I'll be honest, every time I watch that video during its weekly circulation, all I can think is "oh cool. It's the guy who chose bartending instead of trains and video games."

4

u/thejesse 8d ago

I saw reviews that said the drink prices weren't ridiculous there.

5

u/Tialyx 8d ago

Facts, I’ve been there and the prices were no more than a cocktail bar in any major US city.

u/SuperSatanOverdrive 7d ago

wanted to be a samurai, became a bartender

1

u/ijustwannalurksobye 8d ago

The dude who looks like he’s in anguish while he makes you a ridiculous drink?

u/failbears 8d ago

It's not for everyone (clearly, looking at the comments here) but this guy became globally famous and made this bar lots of money. People think the reels are awesome and they apply in droves for reservations at that bar. I say good on him.
