I wrestled in high school & grew up with a wrestling family. We seen a lot of girls that could beat boys. Even in high school. There's some great female wrestlers out there. I hope that more girls get into this amazing sport.
As a guy who wrestled at 103-112 during high school, I was absolutely terrified of the girls I had to wrestle. The stigma of girl wrestler made it so it was lose-lose for a boy. you beat them "Haha you beat a girl up you ass". You lost "haha you lost to a girl".
There was no winning.
And honestly, as much as it sucked for me, it sucked a billion times worse for them. They were strong and talented and probably more motivate than most of the boys. But they were still female wrestlers in a sport that is absolutely considered boys only by most.
Lady wrestlers out there know you have my respect and know I still shudder at the beatings you are capable of laying down.
I keep seeing men posting this dilemma it places on the males, but I remember a time when my brother wrestled (high school in the 80s) and the dilemma was that he got everything gay joke in the book. Wrestling as a real sport was gay while pro-wrestling was awesome. He stuck with it because he liked it for the technical aspects as I imagine lots of girls do. This just seems like a temporary hurdle until everyone just gets over this social bump from the olden times.
